The teacher chooses the case of the week and then begins the You! Be the Judge lesson by slipping in the You! Be the Judge CD - which is provided - into the player. The teacher then distributes a copy of the matching comic strip. Then he or she follows the recommended steps.
Unfamiliar Vocabulary - Before the teacher starts the audio and comic strip, he or she may wish to put on the board some vocabulary from the case which may be unfamiliar to the students.
The Comic Strip of the Case of the Week - The teacher asks the class to read the comic strip. At the same time, he or she reads the comic strip out loud. Depending upon the level of the class, the teacher may wish to repeat the experience.
Listening to the Audio of the Case of the Week - Then the teacher asks the class to listen to the case on audio while they read the comic strip again.
Preparing the Students to be the Judge - But now the teacher orients the class in a different direction. That of preparing them to be the judge.
Note: The comic strip and video may also be used as a pair for this exercise. |
